The DOGS meme coin, a favorite among Telegram users, has embarked on a noble mission alongside Best Friends Animal Society to boost funding for animal shelters and motivate the cryptocurrency community to back animal welfare initiatives.
DOGS has committed to a significant role in backing the No-Kill by 2025 Pledge by the Utah-based charity, aiming for at least a 90% rescue rate for shelter animals. This collaboration will see the TON-based meme coin channel funds into animal shelters over the coming year, striving to achieve the no-kill target by 2025 and safeguard animals nationwide. As of 2023, shelters in the U.S. have managed an 83% rescue rate, saving nearly 4 million of the 4.76 million cats and dogs in their care.
Best Friends Animal Society announced in a social media post, “The DOGS Community has generously donated $150,000 to assist pets like Rusty, who has been eagerly awaiting a forever home at our sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.”
Moreover, Spotty, the DOGS mascot, is set to become the face of Best Friends Animal Society. This black-and-white spotted dog, created by Telegram and VK founder Pavel Durov at a charity auction, will feature in the non-profit’s events and promotional materials over the next year.
DOGS is extending its support further by covering a month of care for each adopted dog and urging the crypto community to follow suit. Aligning with this partnership, the DOGS team is gearing up to launch a new platform aimed at securing funding for non-profits globally, with more details on participation and application processes to be announced.
Andrew, the founder of DOGS, described the collaboration with Best Friends Animal Society as a rallying cry for the crypto world to champion animal welfare and work towards the 90% no-kill goal by 2025.
“This partnership exemplifies the power of merging blockchain technology with empathy to make a real difference — for the animals in need and the families that welcome them,” he said.
Since its inception in August 2024, DOGS has aligned with various charitable organizations, amassing over $450,000 for endeavors such as Save the Orphans, Save the Children, Animal Charity Evaluators, and cancer research, showcasing the impactful union of cryptocurrency and charitable giving.
